(IOS) – In order to treat peanut allergies in children, the US government has approved a drug Known as AR101 or Palforzia.

This drug is not a complete cure for the children who are suffering from peanut allergies, but it will help the children to manage the symptoms of the allergy. Children are advised not to add peanuts in their diet, even after taking the medicine. Because there are chances of getting the symptoms of this allergy again.

Food and Drug administration suggesting the people who are taking this drug should be in the age between four to seventeen. The cost of this drug is $890 per month.

“Nearly one million children in the United States are suffering from peanut allergies, and only one out of five of these children will outgrow their allergy” as per the health authorities.

As there is no specific medicine that can treat this allergy, we would advise you to stop eating peanuts if you are observing a dramatic change in your body. It will be difficult for children to tolerate this disease if it becomes severe. We would recommend you to avoid exposure in order to prevent severe and potentially life-threatening reactions.

Children must take this medicine on a regular basis though there are no signs of peanut allergy. This drug will work effectively if you avoid peanuts while taking this medicine. Peanut allergy is considered as the most common food allergen in the United States. The reason why children have to take this medicine even after the course is to avoid accidental exposure to this disease.

It has been observed that 2.5 percent of the United States children are allergic to peanuts based on the report given by the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

The reason why this allergy is dangerous because it is associated with anaphylaxis, a serious, life-threatening allergic reaction. The signs and symptoms of Peanut allergy are runny noses, tightening of the throat, skin reactions such as hives, swelling or redness.

Cramping, dizziness or fainting, swelling, hives, and indigestion are the severe symptoms of peanut allergy. Following are the side effects of Palforzia drug

  • Severe flushing of the skin
  • Shortness of breath
  • Raised bumps on the skin
  • Chest tightness
  • Severe stomach cramps, vomiting or diarrhea
  • Throat tightness
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • It becomes difficult to talk properly
  • Swelling of your face, tongue, lip, and eyes

Normally, the above side effects may be experienced by the people particularly in its first two rounds of dosing, and due to this reason, physicians keep patients in observation.

Please keep in mind that it is important for you to take the medicine otherwise you may lose the protection. Patients should take the first dose under the doctor’s supervision, in case of a bad allergic reaction.
